It was going to be socks and mittens however chocolatefool and I have decides on yet another shawl KAL - summer flies - and the unicorn is far too perfect for it. I can't wait to cast on!
After I of course figure out how to wind it without a swift... And finish the Calais and my Charade socks and Little Arrow socks for my sock KAL group...
If only I didn't have to have a real job! It's seriously cutting into my knitting time!

Who knew you could actually finishing knitting projects that you start and that it wasn't just a starting and working on process only. I've finished 3 really big projects over the last while. Big as in important and exciting - not as in size.
I've finished my Haruni! I don't wear shawls but I love making them for some reason. I have worn this one a few times on my way to work. It needs a proper shawl pin (and not just the split ring stitch marker I've been using!) It is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. It blocked out nicely and that helped a lot with the size but a few inches more would have been better. I think I'll just wear it until someone expressing they're undying love for it and then I will give it to them!
I also finished a pair of super shortie socks using some pretty Patons Kroy. It was an adventure as it was the first time I was using real self-striping yarn and wanted it to match at least somewhat. I also realized part way through that there was no way I was going to have enough yarn so I ended up doing almost all of sock #1 then making sock #2 to the equivalent and using some random purple yarn I had from something else for the toes :) the tippy tippy toes actually.
I've finished ONE of my KAL socks... due to stupid friend troubles and a horrifying discovery in my ball of yarn (a knotted join in a self-striping ball - to a random color followed by a patch not dyed at all! perfect matched socks ended!)
I decided to just go forth with the socks since they are way to small for me anyways but i just couldn't handle it! the stripes were so perfectly matched. so i'm going to search the rest of the yarn for the perfect join spot, from back the heel and get it matching again. (and call Knit Picks to let them know my sad story)
So that I don't fall even more behind in the KAL (it's one pair of socks a month) I've cast on for July's sock. The yarn isn't my favorite but everything else I have is reserved for a specific project. Hopefully Little Arrows won't cause me as much trouble as June's Charade. I am very happy the the KAL is going so well. Everyone is really excited and very involved on Ravelry. It's nice to see something you've started actually be worthwhile. Check out Knitty Knitty Bang Bang if you want to join the KAL :) Anyone is welcome! I love knitting and making new knitting friends.
And to make up for a missed WIP Wednesday post - I've also started a shawl - My friend Chocolatefool has never knit lace before and since I've turned her into a mitten and sock monster - Lace seemed like the next place to go. As mentioned before I don't wear shawls but I do like knitting lace so we've started a mini lace KAL so she can learn. I'm falling behind though so I hope she doesn't get stuck before I get caught up.
And... after a horrible month of friend troubles that didn't end how I wanted, I cast on a pair of mittens at like 230am one night :) As you know from last winter - mittens are my go to. I love making them and I can knit one in a day. I'm using the rest of the yarn from my 3DS case since I had 2 skeins and the case only took about half a skein if that. Maybe I'll even get a hat out of it too!
For something pretty to end on - Chocolatefool and I went to Lettuce Knit on Wednesday (before drinks and Mexican food!) and I may have bought some Koigu... I had to. It MADE me! :)
Need to get a pretty shawl pin for it.
Sent from my BlackBerry device on the Rogers Wireless NetworkMy mom had this crate in our attic for ages - I have no idea when she got it or where it came from but it was fun and perfect for yarn. I super crafted a lining with some fabric and a staple gun and now it's my super pretty stash crate slash current WIPs crate. (yes my stash is way bigger - I have a trunk of yarn - and yes like a real trunk also kindly provided for me by my mom - she stained it bright purple for me and I love it).
so much Knit Picks - I'm obsessed and have turned two friends over to the dark side *rubs hands together like a super villian*
and yes - so much sock yarn - it's the newest obsession! this is also the photo that will be the phone case!
and if you haven't noticed - I like color... a lot... a lot...
stay tuned for an actual WIP wednesday post and TWO FO Friday posts! (I may post one early just so I can get into the daily posting habit :) )
trying to save the world with mittens... and sometimes cookies...
